Cooks conviction was for a rape, committed in the neighbourhood of Campbell Town ; Lovells for burglary in the district of the Hunter, (Brandon) and Treals for felony in the neighbourhood of Brandon Cook was attended by the Rev. W. Cowper, the other two professing the catholic faith, by Mr. McEnro. After ascending the fatal scaffold, which they did with every appearance of resignation, and the rope being adjusted round the neck of each, at a given signal the drop fell, and they were launched into eternity.
